Wedding Photographers Cumbria at the Inn On The Lake Ullswater

This week I thought I would re-visit one of my earliest wedding shoots and process some of the photographs I did not use back then.  As with most things in life one tends to improve with practice and back then my photoshop and software skills were somewhat limited.  So it was great fun to go back, something I would like to do from time to time, and see what I could do with some of the images that had been left in the locker room.  Zaeed and Mumtaz were a dream to work with and we became good friends as time passed by after the shoot. Zaeed lectures on Mathematics at Kendal College and Mumtaz is a Teacher for special need children.  The other not insignificant benefit of photographing them both was the amazing colours and style of their clothes. I just loved them!

Over the past year I have been asked several times to define my style of Wedding photography and of course there is a whole host of words out there to describe photographic styles, photojournalism, reportage, documentary, fine art and the list goes on.  I have come to realise that our (Ruth and I work together) style is based primarily around intimate images. We do all the other schtuff mentioned before but a common theme that runs through our work is ‘intimacy’.  The wedding is about the couple and the rest of us are there to observe. But ultimately it is about the love that the couple have for each other.  That is what we seek to represent in the photographs we produce.  You are the best judge of whether we succeed.

Cumbria Wedding Photographers with Anna Cherish The Dress Photoshoot

Here are a few images of the Cherish The Dress Wedding photoshoot we took with Anna who told us she wanted a Vintage theme for the shoot.  Whilst this shoot was underway Anna had also asked us to capture some product photography as she hand-makes vintage hair combs and you can find her products at www.thevintagehaircombcompany.co.uk.  The Old Mill was a perfect location for this kind of photography and Anna the perfect Bride!  Many thanks to Gemma who came along to look after the hair and make up arrangements. Gemma has her own business and can be found at www.hairforawedding.co.uk/.  I haven’t really had time to process many of the photographs from Anna’s shoot as we also had two other photoshoots on the same day, one with Amy which was a lifestyle shoot and the other with Katy with her three children, Brody, Joel and Robin.  Hopefully I will catch up with those galleries later this week which will be found on our other website www.schtuff.co.uk.  Next up is a Wedding with Thomas and Tash in Morecambe and a follow on photoshoot around Furness Abbey amongst the Cloisters so really looking forward to that.

Lancashire Wedding Photography with Gareth and Lorna at Williamson Park Lancaster

This was the first time we had been to Williamson Park in Lancaster for a Pre Wedding Photoshoot although we have been as ‘tourists’ in the past when our own daughters were little.  It is a great facility set in 54 acres of parkland.  The Ashton Folly, which I understand was built by the inventor of linoleum, provides a wonderful backdrop for wedding photography and there is also a butterfly house, bird enclosure and cafe.  We had met Gareth and Lorna some months earlier and as they both live near Lancaster suggested that the Park was a good place to meet up.  They are due to get married in December this year when we will be joining them for their wedding photography and Lorna is hoping for a thin layer of snow.  We will see!  In any case we are sold on the Park as a great location and we could not have asked for a better evening with the light breaking through the tree canopy.

As well as including a pre wedding shoot with all our wedding photography packages, and a Signature Board which Ruth takes round all the guests at the Wedding Reception, we also have found that many couples are now also procuring for themselves a hardbound photobook containing between 40-50 photographs from the pre wedding shoot.  If you are planning on getting married and would like Schtuff Photography as your Wedding photographers be sure to ask us what all the options are.

We love you Steve! I feel so lucky to have randomly found you. You are an amazing photographer and artist (not many people are both). I never realized how much fun a photo session could be. We were so comfortable with you and your direction helped tremendously. I am so excited you’re shooting our wedding in Italy next year. By the way you are worth every penny.

Cumbria Wedding Photographer with Ian & Lindsay at Inn On The Lake Ullswater

We met Ian and Lindsay almost two years ago at the Wedding Fayre at The Inn On The Lake Ullswater, Cumbria when they booked us for their  wedding in July this year at the very same location.  So it had been a long time since we had seen them and we wondered how we would get on after all this time. We had arranged to meet up at the Hotel and then go out to various location for their Pre Wedding shoot from there. Well the good news was that we recognised each other although the first thing Lindsay told us was that they were both very camera shy. Yeah! We are sure as you look through a selection of their photographs below you will agree that they took to it like ducks to water.  Lindsay told us that they had booked us at the Fayre because they immediately felt comfortable with us and that was reciprocated by ourselves too.  We had a lovely evening together as we meandered over the hills of the Northern Lake District and now we cannot wait for the wedding.

You might also be interested in looking at our other photo-shoot this week when we were commissioned to photograph HRH Prince Charles visit to Staveley in Cumbria. We have put some of the images on our Blog at www.schtuff.co.uk.  Now we have worked as a Royal Photographer it has been suggested that we should add an extra nought to all our prices!  The good news is we have our feet on the ground and the status quo will be retained!

We had a great evening on the photo shoot and believe me I am camera shy! The photos are looking great though. I think this is more to do with Steve and Ruth’s professionalism and skill rather than anything else. I would recommend Steve and Ruth to anyone, they are a lovely, friendly couple and they made us feel extremely relaxed, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves even though I was dreading the camera. I usually look terrible in photos so I am over the moon with the results. Only problem is I like far too many of them. How does one choose? Can’t wait for the wedding and I now don’t have to worry about the photos as I know they will be absolutely fabulous! Thanks again

Absolutely love the one in front of the wall with the moutains in the background and the sun shining down. You caught the light beautifully and i keep going back to the picture to look at it again!

Lake District Wedding Photographer with Michael & Katie at Tarn Hows

We met up with Michael and Katie at Tarn Hows on Saturday morning, arriving to find a beautiful sunny day, fluffy clouds and not too many tourists!  Now we have lost count of the number of Pre wedding shoots we have done and how many times we have asked our Couples to get into the water, usually with a lot of verbal encouragement that the water is really not as cold as it feels.  With Michael however no asking was required.  I put my camera bag down to get set up and as I turned around Michael was already in up to his waist, turning over rocks and gleefully showing us such delights as black leeches.  Now we know that the water was freezing cold but as we got cameras into position Katie forged in as well and proved just as game as Michael.  There were some shots I missed because I was laughing too much, my apologies guys.  But it was a real delight to photograph them both as they are so obviously into each other, big style.  The wedding is in September so we look forward to that as well.  If you would like to see more of Michael and Katies’ photoshoot go across to www.schtuff.co.uk.

Steve I just love your photography and wanted to complement you on some fantastic shots. You seem to have a natural feel and eye for what makes a great image.
